V6.66 is turning out to be evil.

Wont Idle, surges sometimes, idles for a few seconds and bogs out others.

Changed jets, needle settings, checked for leaks, nothing… always the same.

Fires, choke on, rev rev rev, kinda idles, choke down, surges then mellows out. Check for airleaks, none….

Change gas/plug/fuel filter, etc……

Re timed/ numerous times. 1.8 BTDC powerdynamo

Mikuni TM

Jets from 200 to 180 working down
Needle from top to bottom

So here is some thoughts :

Reeds to big?
Reed material too thick?
Atomizer to big?
Not enough compression?
Too much compression?

Back to the tuning grind.

Any Ideas out there?

i have been running green reeds just fine so i don’t think that it is that. that piston has around 1mm less pin to crown height. i had to take a bunch off of the head to get a proper squish as well as re-profile for the flatter dome of the piston. if you didn’t do head work you might want to start there. was the powerdynamo working before? your main jet seems a little high also.

good luck.

I did not cut the head for the piston, just adjusted the squish to 1mm, also am running no base gasket to adjust for the distance of pin to crown height.

The powerdynamo was flawless on the motor I pulled it off of, and based off of another bike in Seattle who has the ktm/powerdynamo/vforce/TM24 combo, he is running a 175 Main.

Im going to throw a 165 in there to see what happens.

Basically I just have to have more time an patience to obsess over it and get dirty.

could the port timing be messing this up? from my understanding there needs to be a metal spacer before the cylinder but i didnt see one in the previous post.

i was discussing this piston with a collegue while looking at gilas and they were stressing the use of the spacer. perhaps that could be the cause to the poor running bike?

it looks mighty sharp, i wish you luck sir.
